A1: The service aims to provide you with Broadband Internet using DSL technology.
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. This technology creates high-speed access to the Internet through the telephone line. You can browse the Internet and use the telephone line at the same time.

Broadband Internet over HDSL (High Speed Digital Subscriber Line): 2.3Mbps (symmetric).

Q5: Can I download 24h/24 or there is a limitation?

A5: The Customer can download 24h/24 but he will be paying extra charges when his upload/download exceeds certain thresholds.
These thresholds are as follows depending on the subscription speed:
2GB for Blink over ADSL 128Kbps/32Kbps
3GB for Blink over ADSL 256Kbps/64Kbps
4GB for Blink over ADSL 512Kbps/128Kbps
5GB for Blink over ADSL 1024Kbps/256Kbps
8GB for Blink over HDSL 2.3Mbps symmetric.

Q6: Can I control my volume usage? How? |

The Customer can monitor his volume usage through OGERO web site main page (www.ogero.gov.lb), by accessing his user profile as if he is checking his telephone bill details. |

Q7: What are my PC requirements?

 |
A7: Your PC shall comply with the following minimum requirements:
Software: Windows 2000 (preferably Windows XP).
Hardware: 512MB of RAM (recommended), Ethernet Network Interface Card. |

Q8: Do I need a modem?
|
 |
A8: Yes. OGERO will provide the DSL modem including a splitter for the separation of the voice signal from the Broadband Internet signal. |

Q9: Will the service interrupt the telephone line while using it?
|
 |
A9: No the service will not interrupt the telephone line. You will be able to make or receive calls while browsing.
N.B. If you are using multiple outlets for the telephony service then you should install micro filters (one for each such outlet). OGERO technicians will advise the Customers about this issue when performing the installation. |

Q10: Do I get a static/dynamic IP address with my subscription?

A10: In general the Customer will get a different IP address each time he switch on his DSL modem. |
 |

Q11: Can I set up a local network of computers to use the same connection?
|
 |
A11: Yes, the DSL modem will have multiple Ethernet ports. Several computers (up to 4) can be connected to it.
The Customer can also connect his hub or switch to one of the Ethernet ports of the DSL. All the computers that are connected to the hub/switch will be able to use the Broadband Internet connection.

PARENTAL PROTECTION FAQS

Q13: What is the Parental Protection service?
|
 |
A13: The Parental Protection service is very useful as it provides parents with the tool to block web sites that are not suited (violence, drugs, pornography) for family.
This service is offered as an option with the OGERO DSL only.
The key benefit of Parental Protection service is that it is managed by OGERO and the parents do not need to install specific software in their computers to control the visited web sites on the Internet.
Note: If you use a "Public IP" address, you cannot subscribe to the Parental Protection service. |

Q14: What are the kinds of web sites that are actually blocked with the Parental Protection service?

A14: Web sites related to violence, drugs and pornography.
The classification of web sites into the mentioned categories is done by the Bluecoat Company and update is done regularly

Q15: Are sites like "facebook" or 'youtube" blocked?
|
 |
A15: The web sites like "facebook" or "youtube" are not blocked. Parents should be aware that their children can reach "unsuited" pages through these kinds of web sites. However, some sites like "facebook" have their own family control policy. |

Q16: What will happen if an attempt is made to view a blocked site?
|
 |
A16: A message informs the user that the requested web site is blocked. |
 |

Q17: Do I have to select the web sites to block?

Q18: If I have several computers connected to my OGERO DSL service, does the Parental Protection service work on all of the devices at the same time?

A18: Yes. This service is activated inside the DSL modem, regardless of the computers that are connected to the DSL modem. |

Q19: How can I subscribe to the Parental Protection service?
|
 |
A19: If you are an OGERO DSL subscriber, you will be able to subscribe to the Parental Protection service through the following:
1- Calling the Call Center (1515) using the phone line on which OGERO DSL is provided
You will be able to request this service on the IVR, through the following path: Language (1 or 2 or 3) - DSL service (1) - Parental Protection (4)
2- Applying for the service at your OGERO Sales Office with your ID.
3- Requesting this service through OGERO web site (after logging in with your OGERO Web Account). |

Q20: How can I cancel the parental protection service?

A20: Service cancellation can only be done through OGERO Sale Office. You will need your ID. |

Q21: If I have a subscription with an ISP other than OGERO, can I get this feature?

Q22: How is the service activated?
|
 |
A22: When you apply for the service, a work order is issued to the IT Directorate,
where the DSL Help Desk department will configure the DSL modem remotely and activate the service.
The modem should be ON. If the modem is OFF, an OGERO agent will try to call you to put your modem
ON in order to be able to configure it.
In case of failure, you can bring the modem to the OGERO DSL Help Desk Department at
OGERO Mina el HOSN for the configuration or wait for an OGERO DSL Technician to visit you,
on appointment, and make the needed configuration. |

Q23: How much time does it take to activate the service?
|
 |
A23: Service will be activated as soon as possible. The time to activate the service will be influenced by conditions such as:
- Is the modem ON?
- Has the DSL Help Desk Department succeeded in activating the feature remotely?
- Or the subscriber decides to bring his modem to the DSL Help Desk Department?
- Or the subscriber decides to wait for the visit of the OGERO DSL Technician?

Q24: How can I confirm that the Parental Protection service has been actually activated on my account?

A24: You can check by entering the bill detail section on the OGERO web site. Besides, you can try to enter "unsuited sites" and see that these sites are blocked

Q25: If my modem is not provided by OGERO, can I get this service?
|
 |
A25: Yes. However, OGERO might not be able to configure your modem remotely. In case of failure, you need to bring your modem to OGERO premises. In particular, if you changed the password of your modem, then OGERO will need to access and configure it. |
